Position Profile – Firmware Engineer at the China Development Center

Job description
- Responsible for design, writing, programming and troubleshooting firmware
- Develop new chip product functionality, communications protocols and sensing algorithms
- Use the Synaptics System to manage releases, revision control, product placement for all versions of firmware
- Minimize firmware size and optimize design performance
- Participate in pre-scoping and scoping activity
- Create new firmware, update existing firmware, create demo firmware and tools to tune firmware
- Work with FAE/Sales to understand customer application requirements
- Coordinate with ASIC manufactures/suppliers and contract manufacturers
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of embedded, real-time firmware development experience.
- Extensive C and assembly programming experience on small 8/16 bit microcontrollers (PIC, AVR, PSOC, MSP430, 8051, HC08, HC12, Z8 etc).
- I2C, SPI, RS-232, RS-485 or other inter-processor communications.
- Familiar with analog and digital systems, ADCs, DACs, sensors.
- Familiar with techniques for coding optimization and coding under strict memory constrains.
- Familiar with common test equipment (DVM, oscilloscope, frequency generator).
- Windows PC applications program development experience is a plus.
- Creative and likes to invent, optimize and improve.
- Experience in working with cross functional teams to implement dynamic changes in timely manner to satisfy customer needs.
- Good verbal and written communication skill in English and Chinese.
