Job Summary

Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans and automation test scripts to ensure Websense solutions meet high quality standards. Provides technical expertise in test methods and product knowledge. Receives assignments from QA Manager and provides accurate estimates of testing tasks. Clearly reports test progress and quality risks.

Essential Functions

• Develops and executes the test strategy (plans, cases, etc.) for assigned areas.
• Identifies test cases for automating test execution, develops and executes test scripts.
• Analyzes automation test results and reports out.
• Logs defects into issues database and tracks them throught closure.
• Configures workstations and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing.
• Reports test results and maintains schedules for assigned features and functionality.
• Provides technical expertise on specific products, operating systems and specialized environments.
• May participate in the automation of tests.
• Assists technical services staff in the resolution of customer escalations.

• Demonstrates the ability to analyze a problem and complete detailed reports.
• Able to methodically produce the steps which exhibit bugs in the product and is able to reproduce and communicate these steps.
• Shows initiative in gaining in-depth experience in areas of technology relevant to testing of company products.
• Possesses strong theoretical knowledge in software testing.
• Works well in a team environment and alone.
• Excels in an environment of continuous change.
• Track record of meeting deadlines.
• Has strong communication skills, both in writing and orally.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years testing computer software.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows products.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies and the defect reporting process.

Preferred

• Experience with Unix/Linux
• Experience with networking and/or communications protocols, especially TCP/IP.
• Experience with 1 or more programming languages.
• Understanding of SQL queries preferred.
• Experience with automated testing tools, preferably SilkTest
