Job Description:
Senior board-level hardware design engineer to become an integral part of a team providing Failure Analysis for high speed routers and servers. Responsibilities include board and system-level design capabilities, PCB design, timing and signal integrity analysis, system bring-up and testing, manufacturing feedback support, and documentation. Must have good communication skills and must be able to work in a team environment.
Candidate will be responsible for understanding the specific boards down to the asic data sheet / design level; Working in both Windows and Unix environment; Understand hardware architecture of routers and switches; working with manufacturing to collect success rates, understand areas for improvement and then refining the existing models; Helping determine root cause and design/troubleshoot solutions in concert with customer and production resources.
Education:
Typically requires a BSEE, BSCE or BSEET and 4 to 6+ years of related experience; Background in embedded diagnostic development; Solid hardware understanding of routers and switches; Strong programming skills with C, C++, or TCL; Functional test development for networking type products; Prior experience with Customer architecture, specifically with program and script changes a plus; Very proficient with Unix; Good communication, documentation, customer interface skills.

Job Description:
Provide Test/diagnostic Failure Analysis support (in a senior/lead role) on key root cause issues for Cisco's lines of LAN switchs. Requires use of a strong background in hardware-level software design (e.g. firmware) in large environments (2.5 million lines of code). Includes the following list of responsibilities: utilizing diagnostics to assist in root cause failure analysis for products within the existing diagnostic framework, partner with hardware engineering to understand issues and provide feedback on new problems, partner with manufacturing to deliver solutions suitable for the manufacturing process, quickly adapting software to new requirements. Define new software product features. Develop testing software as well as specialized diags to understand and solve design or manufacturiing/testing issues. Developing and / or changing test programs using C and TCL type code. Working in both Windows and Unix environment; Understand hardware architecture of routers and switches.
Education:
Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience. Background in embedded diagnostic development; Solid hardware understanding of routers and switches; Strong programming skills with C, C++, or TCL; Functional test development for networking type products;
Skills:
Excellent communications skills, both internally and cross-functionally. Excellent "C", “C++” or “TCL” programming skills and knowledge of object-oriented concepts. Ability to understand engineering and manufacturing customer requirements and lead small cross functional teams to solution. Dedication to Customer Success. Ability to plan projects. Ability to solve system wide problems. Prior experience with Customer architecture, specifically with program and script changes
