Software Engineer – Java (Vendor Outsourcer)
Job Responsibilities:

Help us innovate to build the next generation of market-leading Internet Marketing applications. eBay's AdCommerce team is looking for a very talented and highly motivated Software Engineer to join its technology team to lead, design, develop and maintain highly scalable applications.
- Design, implement, and test new features for eBay's AdCommerce platform.
- Develop technical and domain expertise to deliver next generation commerce platform innovations
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, QA and Operations teams to architect and develop strategic and tactical solutions
- Must be able to independently design, code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex applications.
- Implement proof-of-concept prototypes for complex infrastructure design.
- Technical lead for new and existing product initiatives, assist with definition of product direction
- Define, design, and implement software applications. Segment and design system layers to support componentized and layered application development.
- Work with other engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.
- Estimate engineering effort; plan implementation, and rollout system changes.
- Share engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities.
Job requirements:
- 3-5 years of working experience and 3+ years of large scale, full lifecycle development experience
- 2 years of hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, SOA services, Design Patterns, OOA/D , Data structures, XML, Web technologies and internet protocols.
- 2 years of hands-on experience in web application frameworks (MVC) like Struts,
- Experience in Database driven application development (prefer Oracle), SQL and schema design.
- Working knowledge of XML Schemas, HTML, AJAX, Javascript, JSON, CSS, WSDL, etc.
- Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX development environment and associated tools like source code management, bug tracking etc.
- A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Strong understanding and command of OOA & OOP practices, UML is a plus.
- Experience in Java application profiling, debugging and solving DB performance issues is desirable.
- Extensive programming experience in Java, Experience in other languages such as .net, Perl and C++ etc is a plus.
- Experience with WebSphere or other J2EE application servers, Eclipse IDE.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong software design, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus in a high velocity, high quality environment.
- BS in major CS/EE or above.
