Job Description

Participate in a Software/QA team involved to test the functionality of Cisco’s future of video product that may include any of the following responsibilities:
o Validate quality and stability for the lab system as well as emulating customer environments. With responsibility for ensuring that Cisco maintains its reputation as a producer of high-quality Video/IPTV software/appliance.
o Participate in all QA activities including test plan development, test bed design/maintenance, execution of test cases and regression and automation.
o Participate in a large and complex Video solution. , which involves integrating and testing the end-to-end overall Video/IPTV solution.

Ideal candidates will process or learn the following skills:
o BS in CS/EE or related field. MS in CS preferred.
o Knowledge of software testing, including QA process and QA methodologies
o Strong familiarity with LINUX is required.
o Solid understanding and hands-on knowledge of network protocols including IP, TCP, UDP and other L2/L3 protocols is required. Experience with streaming protocols (RTSP, HTTP, RTMP, XMPP and LSCP) is a huge plus.
o Streaming experience with Windows Media, Flash streaming, Darwin Streaming, MPEG II TS, IP set top box is good plus
o Basic configuration and setup of networking devices such as Cisco routers and switches is a plus. More in-depth knowledge or work experience with layer 2 and layer 3 features and protocols of routers and switches such as VLANs, Link Aggregation, QoS, Multicast, ARP, RIP, IGRP, OSPF and BGP is a huge plus.
o Prior experience in white box testing and test automation for software applications and similar experience for software with distributed architecture are good plus.
o Prior experience in STB integration testing and familiar with STB message control/middleware infrastructure is a big plus.
o Extensive experience in test case development for functional testing. Testing experience for scalability, performance and resiliency for mission critical type of products is a plus. Experience with testing tools like Ixia, Smartbits, Spirent is good plus
o Prior programming experience in the following languages: C++, C, TCL , Java Scripts, Perl, and UNIX Shell is a good plus

Must have experience in both embedded software and system software.
• Knowledge on Digital TV, head end equipment, TVs, settop box (Broadcast, PVR) is a must.
• Knowledge on DVB standards, MPEG audio and video (SD and HD) is a must.
• Use of MPEG stream analyzers, stream recorders, RF modulators and other cable headend equipment
• Familiarity of theory and concepts of DOCSIS standards, TCP/IP, XML and HTML
• Familiarity with QA practice and product testing of large systems.
