Handset Validation Engineer
Responsibilities And Dimension of Position:
•Study new telecom features, design new test plans to qualify handset behaviour.
Validate a product or product component, propose solutions to eliminate the root cause of the defects found.
Main Objectives And Expected Achievements:
• Participate in the validation strategy (tasks definition).
• Design new test plans to qualify handset on new feature scope.
• Execute / Analyze Tests.
• Report bugs / strange handset behaviour discovered during test execution, check that identified defects have been corrected and that new bugs have not been introduced on recurrent Handset deliveries.
• Design database table to prepare data capitalization in Handset Database
Provide a status on the qualification progress.
• Take all necessary steps/initiatives to lead the validation tasks to successful completion.
• Participate in the Validation documentation concerning the project (Validation Test Plan, Validation Test Report,?).
• Raise any quality issues and make recommendations.
• Propose improvement of existing process to increase test capability, and productivity.
• Give regurlarly status on his activity follow-up.
• The Engineer will interface with Project coordinator, or Group Manager.
Required Qualities And Skills:
• Analysis and understanding of telecom standardisation specifications.
• Design validation test plan.
• Check and execute the test plan on several handsets.
• Execution of validation tasks within time and cost constraints.
• Bugs found in the field, in the area covered by the Test Plan, are either reported in Handset Database.
• Contribution to the continuous improvement of the Qualification process.
• Ability to help the handset manufacturer to eradicate the root cause of defects found.
• Be able to propose workaround if Handset manufacturer correction is not possible.
• Have a good understanding of handsets, and their interface with Simcard and network.
• The candidate has to be curious, challenging.
• He has to be very interested in telecom technology, and specially in handset device behaviour.
• This person has to know ISO, 3GPP and ETSI standards relevant to the SIM/USIM cards.
Professional experience and Education
• Expertise in validation methodology.
• Knowledge of development languages and tools (C, C++, C#, .NET, Java).
• Good written and spoken English.
• Creative and inquisitive.
• Autonomous and thorough.
• Good communication skills.
• Convincing.
Educational Background
Degree in Engineering preferably in the specialization of Software, telecommunications
