This feature pack provides the following feature enhancements for LoadRunner 8.1. For more details about these features, refer to the online documentation for VuGen.

Web (Click and Script)
Web (Click and Script) is a new approach to Web load testing. It introduces a GUI-level scripting API, and an extremely quick way to generate load testing scripts.

With Web (Click and Script) you will save valuable scripting time. The easy-to-use script eliminates the need for correlation.
New intuitive API functions describe user actions on Web objects (button, text link etc.).
In tree view, the steps are grouped according to their pages.
In snapshot viewer, the object corresponding to the active step is highlighted.
Can create a Business Process Report (Microsoft Word format) summarizing the VuGen script.
The LoadRunner QuickStart contains an appendix illustrating the new Web (Click and Script) features.
Web (Click and Script) Limitations
Records and emulates on Internet Explorer version 6 only
Does not support recording on Windows 2003
Does not support VBScript and applets
Does not support user actions on ActiveX objects and Macromedia Flash
Supports only English language applications
Scalability is lower than the Web HTML protocol
Replay snapshots may differ slightly from the actual Web page
AMF
This protocol provides the ability to record and replay of AMF (Action Message Format), a Macromedia proprietary protocol that allows Flash Remoting binary data to be exchanged between a Flash application and an application server over HTTP.

Citrix
New bitmap synchronization replay error management compares bitmap synchronization errors as they occur, and adds the necessary changes to the the script in a single click.
Improved text trapping and text synchronization algorithm, including a function (sync_on_text_ex) that shows the area used for synchronization in the snapshot.
Improved tree view, including replay snapshots and additional options in the context menu.
Improved recording snapshots.
New CONTINUE_ON_ERROR flag is available for each function that can potentially fail. Using this flag makes the script execution continue after the function returns the failure error code.
Improved script replay stability and predictability .
New ctrx_execute_on_window function (replaces ctrx_set_exeption) enables usage of wildcard characters (*) in the window caption.
Supports script regeneration from the recording options and "regenerate script" dialog .
New MMS (Multimedia Messaging) Protocol
This protocol provides the ability to send and download MMS messages as well as receive notifications over SMPP transport. New functions were introduced for creating, sending, receiving, and downloading MMS messages.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Add-In
Full support for creating, replaying, and debugging scripts from Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 - C#, VB.NET or C++ .

Analysis
A new option in the Tools > Templates dialog, Open html report after creation, determines whether or not to launch a browser with the generated report when applying the template. Selecting this option together with selecting automatic report generation and automatic save and close Analysis, creates a "silent mode" operation, allowing the user to launch Analysis- using command line-for each result directory, while making sure that there are no extra windows left open after processing the results.

Resolved Issues SP1
The following section lists the issues that were resolved in Service Pack 1, which is included in this feature pack.

Web
Fixed the memory leak which occurred when there were parameterized resources in the EXTRARES section, and the Download non-HTML resources runtime setting was disabled.
Fixed the Controller override of the Download non-HTML resources runtime setting. Before this fix, the option was always set to "true" in a Controller scenario.
Changed the default value of the "IgnoreRedirections" option in the web_reg_save_param function to "no".

Improved array length handling.
Added a new web_convert_date_param function to code generation to convert the mm/dd/yyyy date format to dd.mm.yyyy in order to correlate dates.

Fixed the problem where VB.Net code generation of variable names was case-sensitive and the following error appeared: error BC30260: <variable name> is already declared as <variable declaration> in this class.
Fixed recording of parameters collection when using an Oracle data provider. This recording caused a failure during replay due to wrong code generation - the command parameters collection was not updated.

VuGen User Interface
Fixed a VuGen replay problem when a script used very large parameter values causing the following error: Error: Exception was raised when calling event-notify Vuser function in extension run_time_context.dll: System Exceptions: EXCEPTION_STACK_OVERFLOW
VuGen Parameter Dialog: Can control the number of parameters displayed in this dialog (previously limited to 99) by modifying the 'first data line' field
Fixed problems with Find results in the Response tab of snapshot
Allows disabling the Start Page of the VuGen. To activate this functionality, add StartPageDisable=1 to the [General] key in the vugen.ini file
Prevents thumbnails creation for the steps which snapshot type is not supported by snapshot viewer. Such thumbnails are marked as "ignorable", so they are not visible by default in thumbnails view
Solved the problem with displaying XML data of Client Request or Server Response
There was no focus on VuGen dialogs (start/end transaction, comment, etc.) during recording. One symptom of this problem was that creating a transaction required two clicks instead of one, because there was no focus on the edit field.
Added ALNUM text flags to a web_reg_save_param in tree view. Previously, you could only work with this flag in script view, and received a parsing error when switching to tree view
Controller
When stopping a group while other groups were partially in 'Ready' and partially in 'Run' states, the scheduler ran indefinitely. The scheduler will now run for the specified duration.
A scenario with a unique file parameter in it no longer fails when the duration setting is switched from "run indefinitely" to "run until completion".
There is no longer a limitation of moving large files (larger than 999999999 bytes) using MFT in UNIX environments.
COM API Scheduler fixes
Added the option of configuring a communication port when communication is between machines over a firewall. Communication is no longer limited to port 443.
To configure a port, follow these instructions on the Controller machine, Load Generator machine, and MI Listener machine:

Open the $M_LROOT\launch_service\dat\mdrv.dat file and add the following line to the [launcher] section: OFWPort=<port> (where <port> is the port number that you want to open).
Open the $M_LROOT\launch_service\dat\channel_configure.dat file and add the following line to the [General] section: OFWPort=<port> (where <port> is the port number thatyou want to open).
Restart the agent.
Analysis
First bucket calculation in SAP diagnostics Alerts is accurately computed.
Fix for summary report issue-long transaction names that included white spaces, were split into multiple lines. This fix eliminates the line splitting.
Summary-Page export to Excel correctly handles numbers larger than 999.
Installation Requirements
LoadRunner
Feature Pack 2 requires a current installation of LoadRunner 8.1, or LoadRunner 8.1 SP1.

Environment
Feature Pack 2 supports the Windows 2003 SP1 operating system in addition to the previously supported platforms.

Web Services
After installing this feature pack, you must install the Web Services Feature Pack in order to create Web Services scripts. To obtain the feature pack, use the Update Service (Programs > Mercury LoadRunner > UpdateService) or contact Mercury Customer Support.

Updating a Citrix Agent
To uninstall or install a new version of the Mercury Citrix Agent, you need to stop the agent's drivers.

To install a new Citirx Agent:

Open a command prompt and run the command: sc stop paldrv. This step is only required for Windows XP and 2003.
Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall the Citrix Agent.
Restart the machine.
Open a command prompt and run the command: sc stop paldrv. This step is only required for Windows XP and 2003.
Run the Mercury Citrix Agent, CitrixAgent.exe, from the Additional Components/CitrixAgent folder on CD2.
Restart the machine.
Diagnostics
If Mercury Diagnostics for J2EE\.Net is already installed, it will continue to function normally with with LoadRunner Controller 8.1 after the LoadRunner 8.1 Feature Pack 2 installation.

If you wish to install Mercury Diagnostics for J2EE\.Net after installing LoadRunner 8.1 Feature Pack 2, download and install an updated Diagnostics add-in from the Patches database.
