    Position Summary        The Optimal Inventory Health team is responsible for managing all inventory in the Amazon network, worldwide. Join us and help build software that solves inventory management problems on a global scale. We are working on revolutionizing the way inventory is managed and viewed at Amazon.com. Join the team and help build and maintain systems that continuously evaluate the economic viability of more than 50 million pieces of inventory and provide automated, end-to-end systems for inventory management. The team is responsible for building/maintaining large scale distributed systems, metrics/reporting infrastructure and user-facing web UIs for monitoring and managing inventory.

    Objectives
    Key Strategic Objectives        What are the key strategic business initiatives this role will own?  These are 2-3 year objectives for the business/organization they will lead.  These should be the two to three top strategic goals.

    Achievement of these are the things that will determine the person’s potential at Amazon

    Focus and Deliverables for first 12 Months        Help drive adoption of OIH Removals Workflow (inventory management UI) from current 85% in US and 30% internationally to 100% in US and 85% internationally. This will be accomplished through implementing changes to the OIH algorithm that take into account expiration-dated products, handle Price Protection and PPV and move to a continuous model for inventory reporting. Other changes to the calculation will involve working with business teams to identify regulatory constraints and business rules specific to various international locales.



    Ideal Candidate Profile
    Educational Requirements        Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related area.
    Master’s degree / Ph.D. preferred.
    Experience        The ideal candidate will have:
    •        3-5 years experience with an OO language (Java, Ruby, Smalltalk, Objective-C, etc)
    •        Strong OO design skills with understanding of common Java design paradigms
    •        Experience translating business requirements into operational systems, experience in business English is preferred
