Primary Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer for a Senior Software Engineering position responsible for architecture, product design, and development of eBay’s recommendations and relationship marketing system. This position requires the candidate to work closely with product and senior management, other development teams, operations and the quality assurance team. The candidate is expected to be a self-starter and team player, a strong driver for results and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include development and support for worldwide projects throughout all phases of the development cycle.

·  Define, design, and implement highly reliable, scalable, and efficient infrastructure for eBay’s marketing business needs.

·  Collaborate with eBay architects to define an open platform for eBay’s relationship marketing strategy.

·  Work with other engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions with functionality to meet market needs.

·  Develop realistic implementation schedules that meet development goals.

·  Provide technical design vision for eBay’s merchandising/recommendations needs and articulate the vision across the company.  

·  Identify and resolve complex production issues quickly in eBay backend components.

·  Analyze and recommend design, implementation, and monitoring tools to help with any of the preceding responsibilities.

·  Must be able to independently design code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.

·  Share on-call responsibilities.

·  Develop industry and product technical expertise.

·  Document best practices and help create knowledge base.

·  Create training materials for developers. Conduct training sessions.

·  Facilitate Problem Diagnosis and resolution.
