SR Software Test Engineer

Major Responsibilities:

1.        Test software releases for the infrastructure and test L4-L7 application protocols. The candidate will possess recent experience working as a test engineer in a network testing environment with networked devices (Routers, Switches, Load-Balancers, Security-Gateways, Servers) manufactured by major NEMs like Cisco, Juniper, and Extreme.
2.        Responsible for drafting test plans, test cases and test reports as well as doing hands-on testing, including manual and automated testing and work with regression test suites, submitting and verifying defects found and provide detail report and summary to manager.
3.        Develop completed test documents, bug reports, test cases and test reports, as well as providing inputs for documentation and release notes.
4.        Design and perform regression and new feature test suite via manual or automation (using TCL or Silk)
5.        Interact with Spirent global development teams, Product Marketing and Tech Support as needed to troubleshoot issues or inquire about legacy or new features.
1.        Define wireless test solution, including requirements analysis and high level design. Analyze wireless standards from 3GPP, 3GPP2 and other technical forums.
2.Lead detailed design of test solution using well defined software practices and techniques.
3.Implement the test solution using combination of MS. Net technologies/languages, such as Visual Basic .NET and Visual C++ .NET. Troubleshoot complex technical problems which involve software and hardware systems.  May include ability to utilize laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, etc.
4.Execute unit test, integration test and system test of the implemented solution.
5.Create technical design documents, and source material for user documentation.
6.Interface with customers to help define product requirements and resolve technical issues.
7.Provide strong support to supervisor on daily project management, and act as communication bridge between local team and US team.
8.Provide technical guidance and motivation to team members.
9.Facilitate supervisor to recruit and train new hires.


Qualifications DesiredRequired Skills:

•        Experiences in configuring, testing and troubleshooting IP based network systems and be familiar with formal test methodologies, i.e. product and system level testing.
•        Knowledge of software release cycle along with good problem solving skills
•        Knowledge of L4-L7 protocols (i.e. HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, IPSec, SMTP or POP3)
•        Good communication skills, both Chinese and English, both oral and writting
•        Good at handling multiple tasks and can work well under pressure
•        Strong ownership and accountability
•        Experience of communication and associated network theories, such as TCP/IP, understanding of any routing, Voice and Video protocols will be a plus
•        Working knowledge of using any bug tracking system
•        Adaptable to new environment and new technologies
•        Experience with Web based client / application a plus
•        Experience with Linux OS a plus
•        Experience with TCL scripting or other automation tool is a plus.
        Education:  BSEE/BSCE required, MSCEE/MSCE highly desired
Experience:
Master degree with minimal 6 years working experience, or bachelor degree with minimal 8 years working experience, in telecommunications industry.
R&D experience on communication systems, especially on 3G/4G wireless technologies. Have good knowledge of network architecture, signaling protocols and process, especially air interface signaling protocols.
Skills:
The successful candidate MUST HAVE following skills:
Rich experience on running a small engineering team in international company and exposure to working with global teams
Rich experience with object-oriented design and Windows-based application development
Good English communication skill.
Motivated, self-starter who likes challenging work
Strong problem solving skills and team-oriented approach
Some experience on Data communication, such as TCP/IP and routing.
Hands-on experience in working within a structured software development environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design, Defect Tracking, Configuration Management Software and Structure Testing.
Following skills are DESIRED:
Experience with software/hardware integration and debugging
Experience with design verification testing of wireless terminals
