Job Description:

The newly formed HP Emerging Platform Group is comprised of a platform product management
function, a business development capability and software development ability based on development team and quality assurance group. We're looking for energetic and enthusiastic QA engineers excited about mobile software applications. In your role, you will be responsible for defining & executing the qualification activities needed to ensure that our mobile device products are delivered to our customers with the expected quality level. Guide the developers in the validation of the applications to ensure smooth system integration.

We are looking for a person who has a strong interest in mobile technology, loves new gadgets and wants to get their hands dirty by writing code to test the product at the code level.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with remote programmers debugging problems that they have found.

Specific responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and run tests using JUnit, Monkey and possibly Positron
• Create a test harness
• At a white box (programmer) level; identify, verify, report, and regress bugs; perform integration, system, and regression tests .
• Work closely with Development team to understand features and provide deep information to developers to resolve issues quickly.
• Creation test plans and scripts for functional, regression and integration testing; execution of scripts and logging of results.
•    Compose comprehensive and specific test cases scenarios and then automate them.
• Feedback on test strategy and automation test harness.

Required skills

• Experience with high-performance, high scalability Java programming
• Experience with JUnit
• Strong Linux skills, but still be able to deal with Windows
• Good understanding of network protocols, especially TCP/IP and UDP
• Good understanding of communication protocols SIP, HTTP, HTTPS and IPSEC
• Excellent command of American English (verbal and written skills)

Desirable skills
• Knowledge of Mobile network connectivity for 3G and Wi-Fi networks
• Up to date on all the latest apps for the iPhone
• Knowledge of Positron/Monkey/Android
• Experience with software development in C/C++ and/or Java
• Experience with simultaneous support of multiple target platforms
(e.g. Linux, Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X)
• Experience supporting a consumer electronics device platform
• Experience with cross-compilation environments
• Participation within the open source development community
