Role Descriptions: Testing Engineer

High-Level Description of Functional Area
• In support of the Application Packaging capability assisting in the testing of application packages and builds for the desktop Client environment. (Windows XP SP2 and Vista).

Role Overview:  Release Engineers
• Manage the physical space, hardware and software assigned to the either Model Office. Coordinate with EDS ITAO management and infrastructure all requirements for power, network connectivity, and server storage for software project repositories.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all Model Office assets.
• Test and apply completed packages to the test facility systems to ensure the solution meets specification or resolves the original problem, is clearly documented, and easy to implement.
• Document the AMER Regional Build as required to meet changes in standard COE hardware or software configurations.
• Coordinate with Client EDS APAC and EMEA Regional Model Office Teams to insure standard hardware and software development and delivery procedures and practices are delivered globally to Client EDS.
• Communicate to the Software Packaging Team any necessary changes.
• Integrate, configure, and test COE Standard applications for COE client system platforms. (Testing)
• Integrate, configure, and test Client-Specific applications. (Testing)
• Perform Monthly Microsoft Patch distribution testing via manual download and via SMS push testing.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled 3rd Party Patch Testing (such as Java, Acrobat Reader, QuickTime etc.)  distribution testing via manual download and via SMS push testing.
• Maintain the COE Hot Fix Technical Web pages with all current patches and updates to COE hardware and software as applicable..
• Evaluate beta software and hardware releases as requested by Client EDS ITO Delivery Management.
• Provide level 3 support for COE Offering client systems hardware software package issues.
• Document all project work as appropriate on the Client EDS Global Model Office Team SharePoint Portal.
• Represent the Client EDS Model Office in weekly project and status meetings. ( MOGAT)

Technical Skills and Experiences:
• AdminStudio - Experience packaging of MSI and Non-MSI desktop applications
• MS Windows XP
• Patch management - monitoring, packaging, testing and distributing
• Visual Basic 6.0
• VB scripting or Windows Scripting Host
• SMS
• Experience with integrating desktop applications
• Experience regression testing against build
• Experience with desktop builds and imaging
• Experience in testing and integration of Microsoft Products.
• 3 years of work experience with Client / Server Intel Platforms
• Engineering or computer science educational requirements or has equivalent work experience
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE  2000)
