We are contacting you to let you know about the changes being made on the Mercury Support Website. Several years ago, we introduced a Rewards Store on our website. The rewards store was a way to encourage customers to use our online services in exchange for “reward points” that could be redeemed in the Store for Mercury Merchandise.
Over the years we have found that our users come to out site because we have valuable information and leading experts in our forum. The rewards points are being abused in many areas and are causing the community more clutter than the overall reward. We have received numerous requests from our community members to reevaluate the Rewards Points. After several months of investigation, Mercury has decided to end this program.
Starting August 16, 2006 users will no longer receive points for any activity on the Customer support Website. All of the online services will still be available. We appreciate your past contributions and will leave the Rewards Store open for you to redeem your existing points until September 1, 2006. After that, the Rewards Store will close permanently and all links will be removed from our website.
This change will benefit you in the following areas:
Higher quality threads and postings in Discussion forums
Higher quality User Knowledge Base Articles
More focus on helping others and exchanging technical expertise (less noise)
We appreciate your active participation in the Mercury online community and want to reiterate that the online community is still thriving, and hopefully better for you with less clutter. We are listening. We will continue to enable your online success.
