TITLE: Software Validation Manager

General Summary:
The software validation manager's role is to act as the final voice and approval on the quality of localized GUI, OLH and Software related documentation (manuals, release notes, quick reference cards, etc.). The primary focus of the job will encompass SW glossary review and approval during project preparation, software GUI review and approval both in and out of context, OLH review and documentation review and/or spot check. In order to do this job effectively, the individual will receive product training as necessary and also must have access to in-country technical resources knowledgeable in the products. The Software Validation Manager will also be responsible for solidifying and overseeing the review and approval process, coordination, at times, with other internal ' resources in order to share workload, measure and provide feedback on vendor quality and for managing overall communication specific to linguistic issues and feedback with all relevant parties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specify linguistic guidelines, expectations and quality standards at project outset
- Review & Approve Glossary (note: will likely require interaction both with vendors and with internal ' product experts.)
- Act as the first point of contact for any linguistic query resolution with localization vendors
- Perform both raw and in-context review of the localized GUI (note: will likely require interaction both with vendors and with internal ' product experts.)
- Following the test scripts created specifically for linguistic testing, ensure that the translations are contextually appropriate and accurate in the running application
- Identify and report linguistic issues, inconsistencies and any bugs, issues and defects found in the localized application
- Where appropriate, implement changes to improve the final quality of the localized product
- Review and/or Spot Check & Approve both OLH and Documentation
- Coordinate communication, from a linguistic perspective, between the product team, vendors and ' internal product experts
- Maintain a knowledgebase for each individual initiative
- Monitor vendor performance, provide feedback on quality and final deliverables and ensure there are procedures and processes for continuous improvement
- Serve as a consultant in Translation Memory Discussions
- Work in conjunction with the GPO project manager to craft review schedule, identify risks and suggest improvements/adjustments to project plan
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in translation, testing or related field and/or professional linguistic QA experience
- Native speaker of target language
- 2+ years of experience in QA in the software localization arena
- Strong management and oversight skills
- Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
- Ability to work well with others in a multi-cultural environment in different time zones
