SAN QA Engineer
Job Description
VMware, a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers, is seeking QA engineers with a proven track record for delivering high quality software products. As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for testing the VMKernel portion of VMware ESX server product. This includes systems administration along with test design, implementation, execution, debugging and automation. You will work closely with developers to help ship products with very high quality.
Responsibilities
Develop testing methodologies and test plans for storage domain of ESX Server Product
Keep up to date on storage technologies and industry trends to be able to:
* Apply innovative testing to further improve quality of product
* Communicate technical dependencies and concerns/issues of implementations
* Provide technical guidance and direction and mentorship to team members
* Work with a team of QA engineers, balancing long and short term priorities for SCSI/iSCSI/ Fibre-Channel/NFS/ SAN/NAS in the following ways:
* Test execution
* Test automation
* Coverage improvement
* Status reporting
Requirements
* BS in Computer Science or related field
* 2 to 3 years of working experiences in the following areas:
* Storage technology (SCSI, RAID, FC, iSCSI, NAS)
* SAN devices administration and management
* Quality Assurance (test plan, test execution, debugging, test reporting
* Linux/Unix
* Must be able to setup test beds (including configuration of SAN components) and be able to troubleshoot and debug storage issues
* Proficiency in one or more of programming languages: C, C++, Perl
* Ideal candidate has strong analytical and communication skills, and is a self-starter with attention to detail

Position 7:
System Test QA Manager
Job Requirements
Manage a QA team to assure the quality of VMware’s flagship Virtual Infrastructure product with major focus on system level testing.
Responsibilities:
Strategic functions
Work with development to determine system level test needs and coverage with input from marketing and customer support.
Work with other QA teams in Palo Alto to ensure comprehensive test coverage of Virtual Infrastructure product
Provide high level technical directions and leadership to the team
Input to planning timelines for both engineering and quality assurance.
Standardize practices and procedures based on a software development methodology
Manage staffing / hiring / team training
Select appropriate software tools by balancing business need and cost
Drive implementation of test automation
Ensure test environment reflects the operating environment of our customers
Build relationships between development and other key internal teams
Day to day functions
Work with development managers to co-ordinate the smooth integration of feature delivery into the product and to discuss 'hot issues'
Work with QA engineers at a conceptual and technical level to create practical, cost effective solutions in assuring products
Prioritize and assign works to team members
Assign problems via a bug tracking system.
Measure progress against timelines, taking action if needed.
Leadership functions
Encourage team members’ creative input and sense of ownership by emphasizing their importance in the decision making process and soliciting their input at many stages.
Achieve high productivity by delegating responsibility, giving both context and re-assurance to team members to ensure their sense of autonomy.
Create a strong sense of team direction.
Integrate software engineering and quality assurance disciplines.
Mentor and guide team members, including offshore staff.
Requirements:
BS or MS degree in CS, CE, EE or related discipline
Great understanding of OS and Application level software development
8+ years of QA experience
4+ years of QA management
4+ years of experience working on complex, enterprise products

Position 8:
Localization PM - software validation
The software validation manager’s role is to act as the final voice and approval on the quality of localized GUI, OLH and Software related documentation (manuals, release notes, quick reference cards, etc.). The primary focus of the job will encompass SW glossary review and approval during project preparation, software GUI review and approval both in and out of context, OLH review and documentation review and/or spot check. In order to do this job effectively, the individual will receive product training as necessary and also must have access to in-country technical resources knowledgeable in the products. The Software Validation Manager will also be responsible for solidifying and overseeing the review and approval process, coordination, at times, with other internal EMC resources in order to share workload, measure and provide feedback on vendor quality and for managing overall communication specific to linguistic issues and feedback with all relevant parties. Additionally, the Software Validation Manager will work closely with the GPO project manager on scheduling and overall project planning.
Key Responsibilities
Specify linguistic guidelines, expectations and quality standards at project outset
Review & Approve Glossary (note: will likely require interaction both with vendors and with internal EMC product experts.)
Act as the first point of contact for any linguistic query resolution with localization vendors
Perform both raw and in-context review of the localized GUI (note: will likely require interaction both with vendors and with internal EMC product experts.)
Following the test scripts created specifically for linguistic testing, ensure that the translations are contextually appropriate and accurate in the running application
Identify and report linguistic issues, inconsistencies and any bugs, issues and defects found in the localized application
Where appropriate, implement changes to improve the final quality of the localized product
Review and/or Spot Check & Approve both OLH and Documentation
Coordinate communication, from a linguistic perspective, between the product team, vendors and EMC internal product experts
Maintain a knowledgebase for each individual initiative
Monitor vendor performance, provide feedback on quality and final deliverables and ensure there are procedures and processes for continuous improvement
Serve as a consultant in Translation Memory Discussions
Work in conjunction with the GPO project manager to craft review schedule, identify risks and suggest improvements/adjustments to project plan
Qualifications
Degree in translation, testing or related field and/or professional linguistic QA experience
Native speaker of target language
2+ years of experience in QA in the software localization arena
Strong management and oversight skills
Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
Ability to work well with others in a multi-cultural environment in different time zones
