Role description
 We are looking for a Component Test Engineer with a special focus on the mobile or IP OR DVB broadcasting technology. The Component to be tested is content protection system’s Head End components which is an Microsoft Windows based application with SQL server as backend. Component is part of a complete content protection system. Component may be either DVB or IP or mobile related, hence the candidate should have significant knowledge in one or two (but preferably three) fields.
Primary responsibilities
 Be able to independently scope out Test Approach for new Component Features, document Test Procedures and execute Tests in an organized, independent and reproducible manner.
 Add to the current test team knowledge base in respect to DVB or IP or mobile network and security issues. Specific product knowledge is desired but not a must.
 Analysing, reproducing and reporting Component defects and special situations.
 Test Tool Development using scripts to increase test automation, monitor client performance and facilitate error simulation
 Co-operate with Development, other Component Test Teams and Quality Assurance Peers.
 Lab management
 Support line manager for test team growth and development: skill improvement, experience sharing and knowledge management
 Mentor junior Test Team Members and undertake the responsibilities of a Test Team member.
Additional responsibilities
 Improve our test methodologies; help the team to improve the testing quality by implementing new strategies.
 Initiate the test process/test tool improvement and implement it
 Provide Input for requirements and planning of new component functionality.

Interfaces and Authority
 Member of the Beijing Development Center (BDC) and working for the Head End Team, which is based in the Netherlands.
 Working in the test team and responsible for testing on component level. The team works closely together with the software development team in the Netherlands and with other Component and System Test and System Architect Teams.
 Occasionally traveling to other headquarters for training and other purposes
 Regular contact with the company’s Client Device Group and Customer Service group and Quality Assurance.
Knowledge & Skill requirements
 3 years of experience in a DVB OR IP OR Mobile environment (including background of IP networks and possibly security).
 3 years of Test Experience which include the whole test cycle from plan, preparation, execution to report, a development background would be an advantage.
 2 years Experience with software testing and test methodologies (TMAP, ISEB or IEEE).
 3 years Experiences with testing of Windows based application with SQL server as backend.
 Familiarity with the Software Development Process.
 Bachelor in Information Technology.
 High self-motivation to test software and to detect and analyse possible problem areas.
 The ability to design and implement test tool and test scripts (expect, conclusion, tcl, shell scripting etc).
 3 years experiences of content protection system which includes Conditional Access, DRM etc. Hands on experiences in security and content protection.
 Familiarity with the Engineering Product Life Cycle and the V-Model System Development Life Cycle.
 Needs to have an analytical, well-organized work practices and be able to welcome and accept challenges.
 Fluent in English (writing and speaking)
Working conditions
 Position is based in China Beijing, working closely together with the other test engineers.
 Part of very international team with occasional joined testing activities with the regional offices in the Netherlands (Hoofddorp), Korea(Seoul) and United States (Seattle).
