QA Engineer for Linux Software Maintenance

Job Purpose:

Novell is known for delivering high-quality software patches/updates on
SUSE LINUX system for our enterprise-level products.
To support our Quality Assurance team we are looking for a QA Engineer
for Software Maintenance. This position is responsible for
maintaining patch/updates repository test systems and works with
software developers on testing software patches/updates for a number of
hardware platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

* Testing software patches/updates for SUSE LINUX on supported hardware
architectures such as installation, bug/fix validation, regression test.
The patches/updates will be any fixes from kernel, desktop application,
c/c++, java lib, database to cluster.
* Maintaining reference test systems and related documentation.

* Designing, developing and maintaining automated and manual tests.

Required Knowledge and Skills

1. BS or Master Degree in Computer Science, Information System or
equivalent majors

2. 3+ years experience in software testing or development, 3+ years
testing or system administration background in Linux environments

3. Deep understanding of the Linux/UNIX operating system (experienced in
Linux system administration or system programming is mandatory), good
knowledge of shell, networking, virtualization.

4. Scripting experience in Perl or Python

5. Experience in testing methodologies and techniques
6. Good verbal and written English communications skills

7. Independent, hard-working, creative, focused, and organized

Highly Desired:

1. Involvement in Open Source projects

2. Knowledge in Cluster, storage
