TestDirector:Unable to finish TD 7.01 installation

Description

      Installation fails when trying to create a virtual directory


Solution

      The TestDirector installation for TD7.01 assumes that the default web service is running on port 80. After creating the physical directory it tries to access the default web site on port 80 to create the tdbin\reports virtual directory, and it fails at this point.

Verify that the default web site is running on port 80. Use Internet Services Manager to check this (right click on default web service, select properties). If possible change it to run on port 80. If another service is using port 80, you'll have to finish the install process manually as follows:
- manually create the virtual directories (tdbin, tdbin/reports)
- create the program group for TD
- Then, to use the service, you'll have to append the port number to the URL, eg: http://<TDserver>:<portnumber>/tdbin/default.htm
