The LoadRunner Agent process or service does not start. The following error message is seen while trying to start the Agent service:
"LoadRunner Agent service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automically if they have no work to do"
The Event Viewer log has the following error:
"The description for Event ID(0) in Source(MercuryAgent)cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer"

Solution: Replace the mdrv.dat file
Make sure mdrv.dat in <LoadRunner>\launch_service\dat is not corrupt. The size of the mdrv.dat should be the same as the mdrv.dat in <LoadRunner>\dat. If it is not the same, replace the mdrv.dat under <LoadRunner>\launch_service\dat with the one in <LoadRunner>\dat.
