Sr. BI Engineer (Vendor Outsourcer)
职位描述：
Primary Job Responsibilities This is a position reporting to the Manager of Business Intelligence (BI) Architecture, within the IT Information Management and Delivery department at eBay. The Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer will be responsible for leading development of BI solutions to internal business users and defining the Presentation/Analytical Data Warehouse layer. The successful candidate will be a top performer and versatile professional leading the design, development and implementation of BI systems and content at eBay, spanning enterprise reporting, ad-hoc query and analysis, OLAP, web application, and other BI solutions with a strong sense of scalable development techniques in MicroStrategy and Business Objects. This position will be based out of San Jose.
Responsibilities will include:
- Team lead for BI report development efforts, coordinate with supporting Data Warehouse, BI Developers/Architects and Business Analyst groups to design and develop new enterprise BI solutions, and to ensure quality and a positive user experience for all delivered solutions
- Technical lead for large, complex BI projects. Develop strategic and tactical implementation plans considering key business objectives and resource constraints
- Participate in requirement meetings with eBay end-users to clarify BI reports and web content needs. Assist in documenting requirements, resolving ambiguities and conflicts, and gather consensus.
- Develop and own BI content development standards and BI metadata, promoting their adoption and consistent use in all Information Delivery design and development mechanisms
- Lead the preparation of conceptual, logical and physical design documents. Present to management and technical resources to obtain buy-in and approval. Coordinate design and code/application reviews.
- Prepare the logical and physical components for new BI systems deployed within a web/portal context. Ensure methods and procedures are followed that adhere to proper object-oriented software development standards and techniques
- Develop complex BI applications to serve the eBay end-users. Tune the supporting queries and report build processes to improve end-user experience
- Provide guidance to design the Presentation/Analytical Data Warehouse layer and to extend/adapt the Data Model to best practices for front-end utilization
- Work with the Information Management and Delivery team to provide training and support. Assist in the rollout, maintenance, and ongoing administration of these new applications. Perform On-Call support duties
- Participate in establishing new processes to ensure ownership and quality of all deliverables and effective use of team resources.
- Mentor team members to continually improve their skills and capabilities
Requirements
1.BS/MS degree in CS or comparable technical field.
- 5+ years experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, or software development, with 4+ years developing BI applications using MicroStrategy 7.x, 8.x, and Business Objects 6.x.
- Must be a proven top performer and team leader that enjoys challenging assignments in a high-energy and fast growing workplace.
- Superior technical knowledge and experience leading large-scale SW development projects using OO techniques and proper software engineering practices.
- Experience as technical lead on large BI projects in a complex environment.
- Experience with implementing complex web application architectures utilizing portal technologies, JSP/ASP, J2EE application servers (e.g., IBM Websphere), third ** software APIs, LDAP integration, etc.
- Experience with HTML, DHTML, XML, XSL, and JavaScript technologies.
- Extensive experience with SQL and large data warehouse environments (preferably Teradata and/or Oracle), and an understanding of data warehousing concepts including dimensional and relational modeling (star/snowflake).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Detail oriented with superior analytical, problem solving, and organization skills.
- Strong personal networking skills with the ability to relate to executives and employees through all organizational levels.
- Knowledge of MicroStrategy 5.x and 6.x is a plus
Data Warehouse Engineer (Vendor Outsourcer)
职位描述：
This is a position reporting to the Manager, DW Development, within IMD China. The Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Data Warehouse applications in an enterprise data warehouse system.
Responsibilities will include:
1.Work in cooperation with the US Analysis and Development team to prepare logical and physical design documents. These specifications will detail the operation of software intended to extract, transfer and load information from various data sources into the eBay data warehouse.
2.Based on the detailed specifications, develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) programs (AbInitio, Teradata SQL, Perl/shell script) to populate the warehouse from various source systems. Tune the programs and queries to optimize data load times, ensure data accuracy, error handling and escalation.
3.Work with the local development and QA group to document and execute Test plans.
4.Report weekly on progress and deliverables against plan.
5.Write the support documentation, assist the production handover and deployment the new applications to production.
Job Requirements

* Demonstrate effective communication written and verbal English skills.
* Also demonstrate excellent organization skills.
* Possess a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
* 2+ years implementing a large-scale data warehouse system (preferably Oracle and Teradata DBMS)
* Strong SQL skills (Oracle, Teradata) and good knowledge of UNIX and Perl.
* Good understanding of data warehousing concepts including dimensional modeling (star/snowflake), Extraction/Transport/Loading best practices.
* Performance tuning experience with large relational databases necessary. Knowledge of ETL tools (AbInitio, Informatica) is a plus.
* Ability to think logically and analyze application and business
