BI-Reporting Lead STE
MAPS Business Intelligence (BI) is a core group that provides business intelligence and reporting solutions to all business units within RealNetworks. This crucial service drives all business decisions and business planning of Real Networks.
The Lead STE, under the leadership of the Lead STE located in Seattle, will work closely with the Seattle BI QA, Program Management and Development teams and other RN staff to coordinate and plan activities and to complete projects.
This position will be responsible for leading the team of QA engineers in Beijing.
This position will analyze transactional data and analytical data and compare business rules to discover holes and troubleshoot data integrity, and also dig deeply into report integrity problems. Other job functions include in-depth analysis of use cases, examination of feature and bug fix design and implementation, and corresponding creation, maintenance, execution, and review of test plans/cases, Root Cause Analysis, provide test estimates, schedule resources and track tasks. Quick technical skills, flexibility and energy are a must.
Technical environment is Unix, Teradata and related tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum:
• Experience in leading a team in the application of standard software QA testing methodologies.
• Ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (SQL MYSQL DB2 POSTGRESQL). Experience in data migration, data analysis and/or data warehousing.
• Deep understanding of software development life cycle, quality assurance process, software test design strategy and software testing tools.
• Working knowledge of Unix and shell scripting (Language).
• Motivated and eager to acquire new skills; Self learner;
• Solid oral and written communication skills in English, able to read and discuss the business rules.
• Capacity to work under pressure in small highly focused team.
• Ability to work independently and raise issues by priority and without waiting.

• Experience with Microstrategy or equivalent.
• Experience in Teradata and / or Oracle databases.
• Experience with data warehousing.
Education, Certification, and/or Training:
Minimum:
BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience with databases.
Preferred:
MS in technical field (or longer experience with databases).
Experience:
Minimum:
• 2 years of experience as a QA team lead.
• 3 years of software quality assurance or database development experience.
• 2 consecutive years of experience with relational databases.
• Experience with stored procedures or equivalent.
Preferred:
• 1 year of Report testing or data validation experience.
• 2 years experience with Data Warehouse.
• 2 year in QA of back-end systems or business analysis.

Job Description

Role Description:
We require a senior engineer to test secure components and ensure that our software products are ready for release (e.g. smart cards, encryptor, scrambler, personalization, secure software components).
Primary Responsibilities:
• Specification, preparation, execution and documentation for component testing.
• Reproduce, demonstrate and analyze defects.
• End to end testing in a DVB, Mobile or IPTV environment.
• Automation of tests (mainly using Conclusion scripting language).
Additional Responsibilities:
• Make improvements in test process and working methods.
• Participate in reviews and discussions on requirements, architecture, design and source code.
• Lab setup, lab management and lab administration.
• System administration and installation tasks.
Interfaces and Authority:
• The successful applicant will be part of a team responsible for all testing on releases of Secure Components.
• Working close together with the software developers.
• Depending on the project interface with project managers, architects, and Operations.
Required Skills
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
• At least three years experience in a similar environment.
• Knowledge of Conditional Access systems.
• Experience with software testing and test methodologies.
• Overview of the Software Development Process.
• Educated to degree level (Bsc) in Information Technology.
• High self-motivation to test software and to detect and analyse possible problem areas.
• Basic knowledge of different programming languages. Java or C++.
• Detailed knowledge of a scripting language (Conclusion is a pre).
