Job Title: Senior Software Applications Engineer
Reporting to: Senior IT Manager, Customer Solution & Information
Location: Hangzhou, China
GENERAL SUMMARY:
• Provide Software Engineering Tools support to Engineers in Hangzhou, China and other Asia WEC sites
• Do routine system administration tasks on VOB, View and Build Servers
• Apply routine user and system level patches on servers and clients
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundamental/Major –
• Perform all ClearCase administrative tasks on Unix and NT platforms including setup of new ClearCase environment
• Maintain and manage ClearCase system on NT/Unix platform
• Develop and maintain ClearCase triggers to support configuration management process, perform product upgrades and installs
• Provide support for end users. Debug problem associated with build process
• Perform regular VOB maintenance activity
• Create new VOB and code branches as needed
• Debug installation and upgrade errors
• Perform ClearCase upgrades as needed
• Support ClearCase users on a day-to-day basis with config specs problems
• Write script to enhance the existing ClearCase environment, Change makefile as necessary
• Created symbolic links, branches, labeling
• Changes in config specs as per requirement
• Changes for makefile for various project, Branch merging
• Installation, Configuration, optimization and maintenance of Vob, view, Registry and license servers
• Process and procedure automation
• Design and create necessary CM documentations
• Controlling changes to the platform branches
• Trouble shoot using Multisite tools
Secondary/Additional –
• Install, maintain, upgrade, and customized various Software engineering tools (besides Clearcase and ClearQuest) like cross-compilers, Debuggers, and other software engineering tools in a client/server environment
• Work closely with the Application engineers in Hangzhou to provide technical support to software engineers in Software engineering tools
• Evaluation and Benchmarking of new state-of-the-art tools to automate the Software Engineering tools and processes
• Attend trainings and seminars to enhance skill sets and learn cutting edge technologies and tools
• Work with the GIS and Networking team to stay current with all the Security patches on all VOB, View, and Build servers and clients
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor or Master degree in CS or EE, or degree in technical field with Systems Administration related experience
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
• Software Tools: Rational Unified Process Fundamentals, Requirements, Management with Use Cases, RequisitePro, Object-oriented Analysis and Design using UML, ClearCase Fundamentals, ClearCase Metadata, ClearCase Administration, ClearQuest Basics
• Operating System: Unix (Sun), Windows (2000, XP), IBM, Linux
• Programming: Unix (Makefiles, sh, awk, sed, Perl)
