  • What is Aero Glass and how can I get it?

    Windows Vista has a new User Interface (UI) called Aero, and if your system meets certain high-end graphics requirements, you get Aero Glass. In Aero Glass, elements of the windows are translucent, and dialog boxes open in an expanding fashion, starting off small and growing larger as if approaching.

     

    To run Aero Glass, your graphics card must have a Longhorn Display Driver Model (LDDM). NVIDIA offers a Vista Beta 1 LDDM driver, and ATI also has LDDM drivers available. To get the full Vista experience, the graphics card needs a lot of memory (64MB minimum, 128MB recommended) and must support the complete DirectX 9 API.

  • 很久没来了~~

    　　很久没上来了，从四月份开始就一直忙，负责两个新的项目，领着几个新人，就那么费力的维持了两个月……现在想想我都觉得以后再也不会那么“勇敢”了，接一个新的也就够了，还弄了两个～～

    　　经历了些伤心，但还是要继续我的坚强和坚持，就算没有王子，我依然是公主……我是爸爸妈妈的小公主，我是自己的公主……

    　　在我的生活中幻想和希望是永远的太阳，而且，它们给我力量，我不觉得它们有什么矛盾，我会慢慢把幻想实例化为希望，再把希望慢慢变为现实～～　纵然，前途缥缈到没有质感，但我还是会时刻给自己鼓励～～

    　　我想在近期内把测试所用到的Document都仔细的研究一遍：

    - Test stage report & sign off report; (23 - 27 Jul)

    - Test plan;(30 Jul - 3 Aug)

    - Test Coverage & Daily process check list;(6 Aug - 10 Aug)

    - Tester check list & Test lead check list;(6 Aug - 10 Aug)

    - Defect descrīption document;(13 Aug - 17 Aug)

    - All Test Case; (V&I , PDE)(13 Aug - 24 Aug)

    　　弄完这些之后大概就到了８月底了……时间啊，好快啊……恩，为了督促自己，写下了时间，定期汇报了～～呵呵～～这样子不会太偷懒～～

  • CAT file for Vista 64Bit OS

        Self-signed CAT file only used to English OS.LOC的OS上面安装Driver的时候还是会提示WHQL的提示框。（现在在64bit的LOC Vista系统上，安装含有Self-signed CAT file 的Driver时，会有WHQL MSG 但是Driver可以正常使用了。）这一点要记住了，昨天Tiulip1 Pretest犯了这个小错误，上次在BB1的时候问过这个问题的，结果，时间一紧忙起来就给忘了。

        在Vista 64bit上面没有WHQL认证的Driver安装完毕之后，到Device Manager里面去看会发现设备名称上面有黄色的感叹号，这表示Device的Driver是有问题的。所以，没有WHQL的Driver只能在运行在Disable Driver Signature Enforcement模式下。

  • About UAC&Self-signed CAT file on Vista

    1. User Account Control---After uncheck UAC in Control panel, the Administrator will have all rights on Vista.

    2. Do driver testing: Self-signed CAT file is lower priority than MS WHQL CAT file.

  • About Parental Control

    　　(仅对本公司camera产品而言)

        Parental Control功能可以给用户提供简单的密码设置功能，在Camera安装的过程中会prompt提示框，问User是不是要设置密码，当然，此时User可以设置密码也可以选择Cancel. 

        但是，这样一个小小的功能，在测试的过程中出现在了各式各样的问题，哎，sigh......

        主要的原因是出现在，当一台电脑有不同的account的时候，switch user之后，尝试着去Enable，Disable、Change password，接着就会遇到不可以preview的情况。这些情况，会因为在最初安装Driver时候是否设置密码，而有不同的workaround。

        总结一下以作提醒：

        1、软件的最初设置状态，会影响到以后的测试，比如在最初安装的时候设置密码与否？

        2、设置好不同user account的权限问题，例如：在Parental Control中，只有Administrate user才可以控制密码，即更改密码的权限，所以，Enable/Disable Password 和Change Password button在Console中对Limited user来说，都应该是Gray Off的情况。

  • Static White-Box Testing

    Static White-Box testing is the process of carefully and methodically reviewing the software design,architecture,or code for bugs without execting it.It's sometimes refer to as structural analysis.

    The obvise reason to perform static white-box testing is to find bugs early and to find bugs that would be difficult to uncover or isolate with dynamic back-box testing. Having a team of testers concentrate their efforts on the design of the software at this early stage of development is highly cost effective.

    A side benefit of performing static white-box testing is that it gives the team's black box testers ideas for test cases to apply when they receive the software for testing.They may not necessarily understand the details of the code,but by listening to the review comments they can identify feature areas that sound troublesome or bug-prone.

  • Check in Device Manager

    About Build-in microphone...like Blackbarry camera...

    After dirver successfully installed came to Device Manager to check the status of the camera, please do not only view the Image Device, but also expand the audio device list to make sure build-in microphone driver was succseefully installed.

  • Hardware detection or software detection

    LCC will show six tabs if the connected camera has a high value, otherwise LCC will run in a Lite mode in which case only three tabs can available.

    So we can see from the case, that there is a value setting in camera driver and LCC has a function to detecte the value of connected camera to decide which mode will be launched when initialize camera to do preview.

    LCC is an in-house application and can support all kinds of our cameras, and everyone can well work in LCC in different mode. The value settings (1~25) well resolved the problem to ensure that higt value camera can run in a full features mode and lowest camera only access the lite mode in LCC.

  • DirectX Folder Not Update

    　　在安装LCC测试Camera Driver的时候，没有注意到机器上面原来有的DirectX Folder是老的Build Version is 8.1，现在我们CD上面都是新的Version 9.0C，结果，导致测试的时候Camera不可以在LCC中Preview。

         在去Isolate这个问题的时候，用的是不同的机器，以及机器HD上面的DriectX Folder，这样有的是9.0C有的是8.1，version不一样，就自然结果不一样了，9.0C的时可以正常Preview的，所以，结果就错误的认为是LCC 的最新版本有问题。

         后来LCC的Developer来看这个问题，才知道原来问题出在DriectX上面，和LCC本身无关。

         虽然，不是自己遇到的问题，但是，这也给自己一点小教训：在去做事情之前，首先要保证自己所用的组件全是正确的，如果事先不可以查看，事后也要想着去确认一下，再开始自己的测试。

         Run... ...  Dxdiag 命令可以去查看DirectX的信息。

  • 动脑想一下，你也行 :)

    　　以前俺的机器要是出点问题，肯定会麻烦旁边的帅哥来给瞧两眼，捣鼓两下就好了。习惯了这种弱者的形象了，今天竟然当了回医生，哈哈……

    　　分解如下：旁边新来一MM，奇怪到她手里的机器肯定有问题，硬盘不认，装系统蓝屏，装完系统之后无法启动，真是让我见识了一下子啊，呵呵……

        硬盘不认：旧主板不认识新的SATA硬盘，装系统的时候需要软驱引导；Google上面搜一下，答案就来了:)

        装系统蓝屏: 怀疑是光盘问题，因为CHS可以正常安装，但是CHT就会出现BSOD问题；有待解决，重新刻了安装盘；

        装完系统之后无法启动：我也不知道咋的, 就想起了BIOS里面的BOOT项设置会不会有问题，结果，我还真撞着了一条死耗子 :) Second BOOT Item 是 Disable掉的，我就小小改动了一下,Enable HD Boot Up，结果机器就启动正常了，哈哈…… 原来观念转变之后，敢动手，事情就没想像的那么不可解决了， Maybe just a case :)

         安装完Win2K&SP4之后，在Device Manager里面USB2.0驱动没安装好：去BIOS里面USB Settings里面发现设置时Full Speed(12)，更改为Hi Speed(480)之后，Restart System, then update the USB driver, it will automatically install USB driver from SP4 installation CD.

         这个也给我了一课，只要自己敢于动脑想一下，怀疑一下，其实一切都没那么难 :)
