Position Profile – Mechanical Engineer at the China Development Center

Job Requirements
Successful candidate will report to a local engineering manager and collaborate with local Sales/FAE to support customers – make custom design proposals, deliver fast turnaround prototype samples, get customer approval and design win. Technical challenges include glass and PET capacitive sensor design, understanding FPCB design and manufacturing, design for manufacturability and assembly, and negotiating technical specifications with customers.

•        Mechanical layout of capacitive sensors
•        Design of assembly and integration of Synaptics products into customer requirements
•        Evaluate specifications and negotiate with sales or customers
•        Thorough documentation (bills of materials, drawings, specifications, etc.)  
•        Release new products into manufacturing at offshore contract manufacturers and support contract manufacturers / sensor vendors and partners
•        Design for manufacturability and assembly
•        Work with USA/Taiwan mechanical team to manage design library and revision control tasks
•        Work closely with PM, SE, Testing, QA, FW to ensure the on-time delivery of projects with good quality.
•        Also work with marketing and sales to provide technical support to pre-sale activities with customers.

Qualification Requirements
•        Organized, open, and articulate personality. Willing to go beyond his/her job description to help the project and team.
•        BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
•        Written and spoken English proficiency
•        3 – 5 years of mechanical design engineering experience in the mobile market, ideally in relation to electronic products.  Know-how in documentation (drafting, ECO, revision control, etc.) and DFM.
•        CAD skills (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD)
•        Experiences in PCB and FPC design, manufacturing, and process control are strong pluses.
•        Desire to learn and contribute in highly dynamic and multi-facetted environment
•        Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in Chinese and English
•        Willing and able to travel internationally (up to 20%)
•        Project management experience will be helpful.
