Overview
The Beijing Build and release engineer is responsible for the continuous integration environment, including integration, build and release of an Agile developed product.

Key Responsibilities
• Work in accordance with the strategy for the Continuous Integration environment, to include component integration, build and release.
• Produce component and system make files.
• Produce component baselines for developers.
• Produce integration and release baselines for verification and validation test.
• Perform configuration of the development support tools.
• Provide support for interfacing the selected development tools with the Continuous Integration environment.
• Tool support shall take account of support for unit test tools, e.g. static test.
• Provide support for Java developers in resolving build issues.
• Manage dependencies between components.
• Coordinate agreement of release baselines, based on consideration of software maturity and component availability for validation testing.
• Provide full release baselines for entry into validation testing.
• Provide ongoing support for new development activity.
• Analyze and resolve build defects which are reported via Jira defect reporting system.
• Defining test flow from engineering hand-off to product release.
• Build local lab and create procedures for use.
• Procedures for using remote US-base lab facilities.

Job-Specific Authority and Scope
• This role reports to the China based site manager.
• Coordinates with on site management.
• Regular formal reporting in areas of responsibility are expected.

Business Travel and Physical Demands
• Business travel of less than 10 percent yearly is expected for this position.
• Physical demands: Office environment. No special physical demands required.

Preferred Education
• Bachelar or Masters Degree, global equivalent in Computer Science required or equivalent industry experience.  

Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years work experience.
• Past experience working with distributed sites development.
• Past experience in a product development organization.
• Past experience in software development preferred.
• Past experience working with offshore remote offices is a plus.

Skills
• Detailed knowledge of the software build, configuration management and release environment for Linux-based applications.
• Minimum 3 years experience in continuous integration software release management environment, version control, processes and tools.
• Familiarity in using and configuring development support tools.
• Awareness and capability in the design and operation of test automation. environments.
• Use of any of the following tools is a plus: Jira/Hudson/Perforce/Wiki/Test director/QTP.
• Experience with Java, JSP, J2EE, HTTP, JavaScript/AJAX, XML and XHTML required.
• Ability to prioritize.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to understand new technology.
• English language fluency is required.
• B.S. or M.S. in C.S. or Math required.
