Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was a programmer. Since coding hasn't been my primary job for lo these many years, I don't feel terribly confident about my coding skills. Test automation usually requires at least some coding.
Sometimes it feels more comfortable to just keep testing manually than to start the scary job of automating. I know a lot of testers who don't have any programming experience, and they have even more trepidation about using automated test tools.
