Responsibilities
1. Develops, publishes, and implements test plans for localized products. Follows quality assurance standards and processes.
2. Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
3. Builds on a working knowledge of QA test plan and test case writing using design notes and functional specifications.
4. Becomes proficient at test plan execution and result communication.
5. Logs product deficiencies via SPR’s using the Software Tracking System CaRDs.
6. Achieves a working knowledge of applicable automated test writing, both API and GUI.
7. Performs installation and configuration of localized the company’s products components and related third party products.
8. Ensures assigned QA machines are up to date with latest release or maintenance software.
9. Promptly resolves any outstanding issues or problems around assigned product areas. Ensure QA web page reflects current status of assigned systems and their availability.
Requirements
1. Knowledge of localization QA processes.
2. knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the software quality assurance field as they relate to localized products
3. Quality Assurance specific technical skills:
1) Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office product suite.
2) Strong Software Troubleshooting Skills
3) Bug Tracking Tools (i.e. CaRDS)
4) Automation Tools - CitraTest, WinRunner, etc.
5) Experience Testing Web Technologies a big plus.
6) Experience using/troubleshooting InstallAnywhere installers.
4. Technologies Experience Required
Must possess strong system level knowledge of at least two technologies of each category below:
1) Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Pro, Solaris 9, AIX, HP-UX.
2) Browser Technologies: IE, Netscape, Mozilla.
3) Web Server/Servlet Technologies: Web Servers: Apache, IIS, SUN ONE, WebSphere, Tomcat.
5. Additional Favorable Technologies
1) Java Technologies: JRE, JVM, Servlet, Applets, Packaging
2) Localization/Translation Tools - (TRADOS, etc.)
3) Siebel’s CaRDS tool
6. Education and other requirements
1) Excellent in Japanese and English.
2) Bachelor degree in related field, preferably Computer Science plus 2-5 years or Bachelor degree in unrelated field plus 5-7 years of quality assurance experience in a software development environment or related field.
3) Organized and great attention to ‘Detail’.
4) Able to balance multiple projects concurrently.
5) Verbal and Written communication skills. Able to communicate problems to both external and internal audience at varying levels of technical aptitude.
