BI-Reporting STE
The BI STE, under the leadership of the BI Lead STE located in Beijing, will work closely with the Seattle BI QA, and have limited interaction with Development and Program Management teams.
This position will analyze transactional data and analytical data and compare business rules to discover holes and troubleshoot data integrity, and also dig deeply into report integrity problems. Other job functions include in-depth analysis of use cases, corresponding creation, maintenance, execution and review of test cases, isolate and reproduce bugs and Root Cause Analysis.
Technical environment is Unix, Teradata and related tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum:
• Ability to write SQL queries to support data flow investigations.
• Knowledge of relational databases. Understanding of the crucial role of data integrity in relational databases and commitment to their quality.
• Understanding of software development life cycle, quality assurance process, software test design strategy.
• Working knowledge of Unix and shell scripting.
• Motivated and eager to acquire new skills; Self learner;
• Solid oral and written communication skills in English, able to read and discuss the business rules.
• Capacity to work under pressure in small highly focused team.
• Ability to work independently and raise issues by priority and without waiting.
Preferred:
• Experience with Microstrategy or equivalent.
• Experience in Teradata and / or Oracle databases.
• Knowledge of data warehousing.
Education, Certification, and/or Training:
Minimum:
BS in technical field, or lower degree + applicable experience (or equivalent experience with databases)
Preferred:
MS in technical field (or longer experience with databases).
Experience:
Minimum:
• 2 years of software quality assurance or database development experience.
• 1 year of experience with relational databases.
• Experience with stored procedures or equivalent.
Preferred:
• 1 year of Report testing or data validation experience.
• 1 year experience with Data Warehouse.
• 1 year in QA of back-end systems or business analysis.

TITLE:  SDE DEPARTMENT:  30.2072
GENERAL SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Please be sure to provide a full summary of the role.  This information is used in creating
advertising and other public
information regarding the position.
The SDE will design, build and user interfaces for the maintenance of reporting and royalty
metadata and the customization of
the web presentation layer of Microstrategy.  There will be an emphasis on high performance/availability, object-oriented
software development in a multi-tier environment.  Development environment is J2EE: Java,
jsp, Servlets, SQL, ORM frameworks.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
List the five to six major job duties (essential job functions) in order of their importance and the percentage of time used to perform that duty.  Be as specific as possible.  Duties may include such activities as
maintains department files, uses a variety of software to compose correspondence, provides recommendations on investment
strategy, creates financial
spreadsheets, etc.  The total time should equal 100%.
Essential Functions:
1.Create software designs to fulfill requirements/specifications 15% of Time
2.Develop and maintain software for various projects, including thorough code reviews, and
unit and integration testing75% of Time
3.Participate in cross-functional team meetings and planning sessions. Provide estimates for development efforts to be used in cost benefit analysis.10% of Time

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum:
Unix/Linux programming environment
Strong object-oriented design and coding skills
Expertise with data structures, algorithms, and relational databases
Experience developing web-based user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript & Ajax
Techniques
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to deal well with ambiguous and ill-defined problems
Excellent customer focus
Preferred:
Experience in the following technologies: Hibernate, ant, XML Apache,  Tomcat, Oracle, Spring
Successful delivery of numerous web-based applications, services & software
Education, Certification, and/or Training:
Minimum:BA or BS in Computer Science
Preferred:MS in Computer Science or related field
Experience:
Minimum:
4+ years industry experience
3+ years Java Development
3 years experience with object-oriented software design & development methodologies.
2-3 years of SQL experience.
Preferred:
4 years object oriented software engineering experience
3 years of HTML and JavaScript experience.
Experience integrating web-based services with client software.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
At desk 70% of the day.  In technical meetings up to 30% of day.
