Key Job Responsibilities:
As Technical Lead, the candidate will be required to be accountable for the technology area ensuring that the software
is of high quality and fit for purpose. You will be expected to:
• Contribute to team activities, and help foster a positive team spirit.
• Mentor and coach others, especially for less experienced members of the team.
• Proactively build relationships with technical peers across the company and externally.
• Actively track and maintain knowledge of test developments, standards and associated technologies.
• Lead day-to-day test development activity at a technical level - assisting, guiding and coordinating team members.
• Work with Project Managers to ensure projects against products in test area are adequately planned and resourced and
will deliver to the required level of quality.
• Regularly report to the Engineering Manager on the quality and project status of the technology and projects in test area.
• Contribute to test strategy and the design and development of unit and integration tests and test harnesses.
As a member of the group you will be taking responsibility for test development in all parts of the software lifecycle
including requirement analysis, work breakdown, estimating, design, coding, unit and integration test coding, defect fixing,
and supporting the project. The candidate will be required to:
• Define and develop a test approach
• Design test specifications and guide test teams when developing them
• Develop test software and specifications
• Enforce quality standards of testing
• Identify and support test environment
• Identify and execute tests and scripts
• Prepare Test Reports for code submissions
• Contribute to estimates and plans as required by Project Manager
• Provide regular status updates to Project Manager
• Raise and investigate defects and, where practical, suggest solutions
• Adhere to Symbian test processes and practices
• Work closely with the development team
Essential Requirements:
• Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Telecom related discipline.
• >5 years of software development or testing experience.
• C++(Familiarity with STL) / Java experience in a commercial environment.
• Object Oriented Design and UML design experience.
• Experience of software engineering project life cycles and processes.
• Strong analysis and design skills coupled with good understanding of software test development methodologies.
• Good verbal and written English skills.
• Proven experience of professional software test development gained in a Telecom or Engineering related industry.
• Proven hands-on responsibility for software test planning, testing and test code development for product code working
from requirements and functional documentation.
• Full understanding of test methodologies and processes, experience of test design and automation test development
• Professional attitude towards testing development related project and general management practices, ability to manage
time and workload.
• Pro-active Team player, high performer
• Ability to take ownership of deliveries
Preferred:
• Experience of embedded environments such as Symbian OS / Linux / Windows Mobile, or test Tools development
experience, possibly in more than one technology area
• Able to work with a wide range of people from developers to senior management staff and including direct customer
interaction.
• Team player, possess a strong quality and test mind-set, excellent communication skills, with good technical writing skills
• Familiarity with ARM architecture
• Familiar with Mercury Test Director, QTP, WinRunner…
Java, Perl, Python, Ruby scripting.
• ISEB practitioner, ideally will be ISEB accredited or equivalent
